Heather’s Songs

While in jail, Heather has written a few songs or new verses for some existing songs.

His Love

VERSE 1

      C                   F
A fierce storm rages all about

     G                             Am
No time for fear no room for doubt
      F                            G
But only trust my Savior’s arm
      F                  G                     C
He quiets my heart with His love
         F              G
His love His love
         F               G                       C
He quiets my heart with His love

VERSE 2
My heart in perfect peace restored

I thank and praise my risen Lord
And all the while His steady Gaze
Will quiet my heart in his love
His love His love
Will quiet my heart in His love

VERSE 3
When every where I seem to find

Hurting souls the lost and blind
I cannot give you silver or gold
But he’ll quiet your heart with His love
His love His love
He’ll quiet your heart with His love.

To the tune of, In Christ Alone

Among this filth, this fallen world
Somehow we live and even thrive
If not for Christ His perfect love
How could we hope to stay alive
But for this time in space carved out
E’re fixed eternal by His grace
We stand apart in perfect peace
With Him in heavenly secret place

The Lord’s great storm burst forth in wrath
His promised vengeance soon to earth
In days to come you’ll understand
Our passover Lamb and all His worth
But till that time we persevere
For our faith contend till He appear
Then all wounds healed and health restored
Always and ever with our Lord

About these verses:

A few days ago Heather called me from the Grayson County Detention Center. She was trying to remember the words to In Christ Alone and instead she wrote two new verses.

Firm Foundation

By Cody Carnes (with new bridge and additional verses)

Christ is my firm foundation
The Rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken
I’ve never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
‘Cause He’s never let me down
He’s faithful through generations
So why would He fail now?

He won’t
He won’t

I’ve still got joy in chaos
I’ve got peace that makes no sense
So I won’t be going under
I’m not held by my own strength
‘Cause I’ve built my life on Jesus
He’s never let me down
He’s faithful in every season
So why would He fail now?

He won’t
He won’t
He won’t fail
He won’t fail
He won’t

This Rock is my tower and fortress
The cleft in which I hide
When prison doors seek to bind me
In Him alone will I abide
‘Cause I’ve staked my life on Jesus
He’s never let me down
He’s faithful and all sufficient
So why would He fail now?
He won’t

Bridge
Chains came locks clang
But my eyes are fixed on you
I’m free in you
Yes I’m going to make it through

Oh grave, where is your power?
Oh death, where is your sting?
For I’ve peace in every hour
I don’t fear anything!
‘Cause I’ve placed my hope in Jesus
I rest in His resurrection
So why would He fail now?
He won’t!

Great Is Thy Faithfulness (extra verse)

All Thy new mercies to me every morning
Cannot compare to this glorious grace
None is so great and so real as Thy presence
Lord, haste the day I see Thee face to face!

It Is Well  (extra verse)

Though chains be my garland
And prison doors my prize
Privation and pain take their toll
His peace is my portion
His regard my reward
Jesus maketh all well with my soul

Graves Into Gardens  (extra verse)

Now these prison doors,
No, they can’t contain You
Your power and grace
These forces enrage
But they can’t cage you in
And the God of all freedom
Loves the widow and orphan,
The weak and the small,
Oh, You see them all,
And you gather them in
Oh there’s nothing better than You
